Disposing of Paint

We have recently had instances of residents putting unused paint in their trash. As a consequence, Waste Pro trucks are dripping the wet paint on your neighbor’s driveways.

Paint is never to be placed in your household trash unless the paint is completely dry!

There are many ways to recycle or dispose of latex and acrylic paints (no oil based).

  • If it meets Habitat ReStore criteria, it can be recycled into new paint that Habitat then sells. Call 828-696-9524 for more information.
  • Add enough cheap kitty litter to the unused paint, mix well and wait a few days for the paint to dry up. Then you can put it in your household trash.
  • Go to the Henderson County Convenience Center on designated days to recycle. For more information go to https://www.hendersoncountync.gov/solid-waste/page/liquid-paint-recycling

Feel free to call Carol at Town Hall for more information.
